There are a number of scenarios where businesses prefer to have their goods disposed of rather than returned:

• An international merchant needs to retrieve an item from a buyer, but the value of the item is less than the price of shipping. This means that it is more cost effective to dispose of the item than to ship it.
• An item is returned but is prohibited to be exported from Canada.
• An item is returned but is prohibited from being imported to the merchant’s country of
  residence.
• An item is returned but is simply unwanted.

Whatever your reasons for wanting an item disposed of, they are not uncommon. Many individuals or businesses simply don’t want the hassle of dealing with unwanted merchandise, which carries its own price tag and complications. ShipByMail pricing

The ShipByMail fee for package disposal is $5 CDN. That’s right. We charge $5 to dispose of any package, regardless of the number of individual items inside. Terms & Method of Disposal

Upon receipt of the package, we are required to check the contents. This ensures that we are disposing the correct items and also that they are items authorized for disposal (please see restrictions for more details). Upon package confirmation, the items will be disposed of immediately; either destroyed or recycled and documented.

Restrictions

We do need to state the obvious here when it comes to package disposal: it is prohibited to send illegal or items associated with criminal activity to ShipByMail .
