That rule has now ended.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>From August 29, 2025, every parcel no matter how small the value will be taxed from the very first dollar.<\/li>\n<li>Example: A $50 t-shirt that used to arrive duty-free may now be taxed at standard U.S. tariff rates.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>This change is one of the biggest reasons you may see higher charges than before.<\/p>\n<p>U.S. tariffs are not always a flat percentage. See the <em><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbp.gov\/sites\/default\/files\/2025-08\/20250820_tariff_factsheet_0.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">official CBP tariff summary<\/a><\/strong><\/em>.<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>Collecting US Duties and Taxes up front<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>On Aug 23 2025, The United States Postal Service (USPS) announced that starting <strong>August 29, 2025<\/strong>, they will no longer accept shipments under <strong>DDU (Delivered Duty Unpaid)<\/strong>. This means that all shipments to the U.S. must have duties and taxes paid upfront to the U.S. Government (<strong>DDP Delivered Duty Paid<\/strong>) before leaving our Canadian warehouse.<\/p>\n<p><strong>We want to ensure you fully understand what this means for your orders.<\/strong><\/p>\n<h5><strong>What&#8217;s Changing?<\/strong><\/h5>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Before Aug 29: <\/strong>Many parcels shipped DDU, and duties were collected by USPS directly from U.S. customers upon delivery.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Now:<\/strong>\u00a0Duties and taxes must be calculated and paid to the U.S. Government before your parcel leaves our warehouse in Canada.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Brokerage Fees:<\/strong>\u00a0If sent through <strong>UPS<\/strong>, shipments may also be subject to brokerage fees of about US$50 per item on top of duties.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h5><\/h5>\n<div class=\"cstmH1Tag\"><strong>How This Affects Your ShipByMail Orders<\/strong><\/div>\n<p><strong>Regular Forwarding<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>If you order items yourself and ship to your ShipByMail Canadian address, duties and taxes will now be added to your forwarding invoice.<\/li>\n<li>You will see the duty\/tax calculation before your parcel ships.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Buy-For-Me Service<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Previously, you only paid for the product cost upfront.<\/li>\n<li>From now on, duties and taxes will also need to be paid before we can ship your parcel to you.<\/li>\n<li>In some cases, duties and taxes may exceed the original product price.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong><br \/>\nWhat We&#8217;re Doing to Help<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Transparent Estimates:<\/strong>\u00a0We will do our best to give you accurate duty\/tax estimates at checkout, so you know the true landed cost before shipping.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Clear Communication:<\/strong>\u00a0You&#8217;ll always be notified by email once your parcel arrives and before any duties are charged.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Flexible Options:<\/strong>\u00a0We continue to explore alternative carriers and shipping options to minimize extra brokerage fees.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong><br \/>\nWhat You Can Do as a Customer<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Check country of origin before ordering. Items from China, aluminum products, and electronics are most affected.<\/li>\n<li>Budget for duties and fees that may be higher than expected.<\/li>\n<li>Use Buy-For-Me wisely for some products, duties may outweigh the savings.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong><br \/>\nQuestions?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>We know this is a big change, and we&#8217;re here to help.
